Getting Started with DiscoDigest

1. Install DiscoDigest

1. Click the Install button from the Discord App Store or our website.

2. Select the server where you want to add the bot.

3. Review and approve the required permissions for DiscoDigest.

4. Click Authorize to complete the installation.

2. Set Up Roles

DiscoDigest uses a role-based access system to ensure only authorized members can interact with it.

1. Go to your server Settings > Roles.

2. Create a new role named DigestManager.

3. Assign the DigestManager role to members who should have access to the bot's commands.

3. Grant Bot Access to Private Channels

To ensure DiscoDigest can collect messages and post digests from/to private channels:

1. Add the DiscoDigest bot as a member of any private channel or category where:

  • Messages will be collected.
  • Digests will be posted.

2. To add the bot to a private channel:

  • Go to the channel's settings.
  • Select Permissions.
  • Click Add Member and select DiscoDigest.

4. Add the :add_to_digest: Reaction

To mark messages for inclusion in digests, use the custom :add_to_digest: emoji as a reaction:

  • Ensure your server has the custom :add_to_digest: emoji added. It should already be included when you installed the App.
  • React to any message you want included in a digest using the :add_to_digest: emoji.

5. Commands Overview

  • /config: Configure digest settings such as target channels and compilation channels.
  • /list-digests: View all digests currently configured for the server.
  • /run-now: Instantly collect messages and post a digest based on your configuration.
  • /delete-digest <UUID>: Delete a specific digest by its unique identifier.
  • /help: Get detailed help and information about all commands.

6. Start Using DiscoDigest

With everything set up, you're ready to create your first digest!

  • Use the /run-now command to instantly collect messages and post your digest.
  • Check out /help for more details on available commands.
